1OCK Philly Union +1/2

LOCK Philadelphia Union +1/2 -105

In just their 2nd season, the Philadelphia Union are in great position to earn a spot in the MLS Playoffs.  Tonight they are in Seattle, an always hostile environment, to battle the Sounders - who are fresh off lifting the US Open Cup midweek after a 2-0 win over Chicago Fire.  Philadelphia is in the midst of a six-game unbeaten run, and while Seattle are a very good team at home, I feel like they will have a bit of a fallout after an emotional win in the Open Cup final on Tuesday night.  I expect Philly to come away with at least a draw tonight.  Good luck everyone.

1OCK Vancouver Whitecaps PICK +145

1OCK Vancouver Whitecaps PICK +145

The expansion Vancouver Whitecaps welcome Real Salt Lake to their comfy new home at BC Place this evening.  Vancouver saw Portland snatch a 1-0 decision in the stadium opener over the weekend and will be eager to get that first W tonight.  Both squads are in the midst of a 3-game losing skid, which is especially surprising for RSL.  The Caps are eliminated from the playoffs, and are essentially playing for their jobs the rest of the season. RSL have all but locked in their playoff birth, now just playing for positioning in the final three games of regular season.  Both sides will be missing key players, namely RSL will be missing 6-7 regular starters due to suspension and international duty.  Even a less than full strength RSL squad will be solid, and Vancouver know they will have to work to get that first win in their new home.  The Caps have been playing well, just end up on the wrong side of results as of late.  If they are to get the job done tonight they will have to take their chances well against a solid RSL backline, which has shown some vulnerabilities of late in their skid.  Vancouver will be without leading scorer Eric Hassli, but with the always dangerous Camilo and goal-hungry Jarju on-hand I expect these guys will be eager to strike in his absence.  Look for the Caps to come out strong, hoping to give their faithful fans something to go home happy about tonight.  Good luck everyone.

1OCK NY Red Bulls ML +140

The Red Bulls have somehow found themselves scrapping for their playoff lives as the MLS regular season draws to a close.  With just three games remaining, and holding down the 10th and final playoff spot, NY are in dire need a full three points.  That won't come easy tonight, with the soon-to-be crowned repeat Supporters' Shield holders LA Galaxy coming to town.  LA have been consistently getting results throughout the season, but tonight will be without Landon Donovan + Robbie Keane, and are playing their 4th match in 10 days.  I believe we will see a motivated NY Red Bulls team pounce on a tired LA Galaxy team.  Yes, an LA win clinches the Shield for them, but even with a loss tonight they have pretty much got it in the bag.  They will come out somewhat looking to clinch it tonight, but NY has more on the line and their backs are against the wall.  It is truly do-or-die time, and anything but 3-points tonight could see NY squander that last playoff spot.  Good luck tonight everyone.

Welcome to The SOCCER 1OCK PROjECT

The SOCCER 1OCK PROjECT is your one-stop source for following my picks over the course of a year. I will only post a true 1OCK as I see fit - using the LOCK standards of The Original LOCK Thread. I may have four locks in one week, or I may go four weeks with no LOCK. It is my goal to hit over 70% of LOCK's over the course of a year. I will treat each LOCK as a 5-Unit play and will update totals over the course of the year. This blog is for entertainment purposes only.
